World Environment Day 2024 falls on the 5th of June, just as it has done every year since its inception in 1972. For one week in June of 1972 in Stockholm, Sweden, a General Assembly of the UN took place, holding a Conference on the Human Environment. It was at this meeting that it was decided the 5th of June every year shall be World Environment Day.
In this blog post, we will look back at the history and global involvement in the event. Plus we discuss the previous themes as well as the theme of World Environment Day 2024. Also, we will tell you how Solarvault can help your business make the transition to cleaner energy.
A Look Back to Events Before World Environment Day 2024
Each year of this fantastic event is headlined by a different theme and a different host nation. World Environment Day has a truly global involvement, with host nations coming from Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceana, North America and South America. The political leanings of the nation do not matter. A global environmental concern affects everyone across the divide.
Themes, too, change year on year. Poverty, global warming, ground water, recycling, the ozone layer, human settlements and the seas have all taken centre stage at one point or another. All are equally important over the diverse number of veritable subjects.
World Environment Day 2024, run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), is being held in Saudi Arabia with the theme of land restoration, desertification and drought resilience.
Energy and the Environment
Billions of pounds is spent globally on health care issues caused by air pollution, not to mention countless lives lost. Air pollution from fossil fuels is a serious concern. Thankfully, here in the UK, we have done well to lower the amount of fossil fuels used in energy production. Coal, for example, has all but been eradicated from the energy industry. Gas, on the other hand, is still being used in vast quantities.
Renewable energy is going from strength to strength. Wind power and solar are taking on greater levels. As a nation we are creating the lowest levels of pollution from energy production since the 1950’s. Hopefully this figure will drop to almost zero in the coming years.
How Solarvault is Contributing to Making the Change
Construction is an industry that has come under the spotlight, particularly in recent years, in respect of pollution created on-site. Solarvault brings real solutions that can make a difference to any construction project.
Emerging from a group of companies entrenched in the construction industry, particularly diggers and other machinery, Solarvault has seen firsthand the shortfallings of the industry insofar as energy usage and storage. That’s where the Solarvault products come into play.
Our 2,000 litre fuel bowser, for example, is powered by solar. Its features include security cameras and USB ports for charging phones and tablets which may be required on the site. Maybe our fantastic Power Tower can help transform your energy plans. With 240v outlets and 6 USB ports, this is a highly practical solution. Finally, we can supply your project with a ground mounted system. Perfect for generating your own endless supply of emission free energy.
Final Thoughts
Something that World Environment Day 2024, and all its previous incarnations, have shown us is that there is a huge collective responsibility when it comes to making the change that we need. Solarvault recognises this reality and offers real solutions.
